Judging from how vast the design industry is and types fo designers with their own styles and specialty how do you choose a right that fits your & your company's / Agency's requirements perfectly. Today I will be hiliting few key points that you should keep in mind while hiring a designer.
Understand your requirement.
When fining a job in the design industry, this is one of the series offenders, seeing job title like " Graphic & UI UX Designer required." my brains first response is like " bro! please make up your mind either you want a graphic designer or you need a UI UX designer."
Make your resident designer to wright the job post description for you.
If you don't have an internal designer then ask your friends or contact some experts, they may not write it for you but certainly, help you write one.
We understand that hiring someone with do it all kind of person is much more cheaper in this kind of situation best solution would be to contract a designer for the duration of the project.
Focus more on quality than quantity ( including years of experience )
Being a person who has been rejected for the same reason even after having far superior quality projects in my portfolio. In my opinion, design is one the industry where talent and hard work is everything and where you can find a fresher doing fare better job than a person with 5 years of experience.
Have a designer / creative person involve in the hiring process
Maybe your hiring manager is good at understanding who is a better fit for the company and that's it. I have seen agencies not consult with their designers max to max ask them to see their portfolio and give reviews. If you are looking for a good designer, let them be involved in the hiring process, after all, who to better judge then the pro in the same field.
Understand your design requirements don't go for one person do it all solution or hire someone on a contract basis.
Don't go running behind quantity and years of experience instead go for quality and space of growth and improvement.
Let your designer be involved in the hiring process who to judge then better an expert of the same field.
